Sony is rumored to be making a 4k Playstation 4 with 4K output capability for playing 4k graphics games. This playstation will most probably be named with Playstation 4.5 or may be Playstation 4K but yet name is not decided.
Whatever the name would be but it will support 4k graphics with its upgraded GPU and Processor which Sony is currently building. It is not yet clear when this playstation will be ready and how it is sold but it will most probably come this fall or in next year start.
In case if you don’t know about 4K resolution, 4k resolution is around four times the pixel size of 1080p, which is the current standard for games on PlayStation 4 and competing consoles.
The current PS4 can output 4K photos and videos, but does not support 4K resolutions for games. With this upgrade, it would support 4K games too. With this new 4K resolution games would be more realistic and have greater graphical quality than that of current PS4.
It is worth mention here that Microsoft also had announced hardware upgrade of Xbox One. Phil Spencer said
“When you look at the console space, I believe we will see more hardware innovation in the console space than we’ve ever seen. You’ll actually see us come out with new hardware capability during a generation allowing the same games to run backward and forward compatible because we have a Universal Windows Application running on top of the Universal Windows Platform that allows us to focus more and more on hardware innovation without invalidating the games that run on that platform.”
