Social networking website, Facebook today launched a very popular feature which it named it as Stories, a clone to snapchat stories. This feature allows user to post photos and videos on their wall which will automatically disappear after 24 hours.

Earlier Facebook introduced this feature to its other apps like Whatsapp Status on Whatsapp, Instagram Stories on Instagram, Messenger Day on Facebook messenger app.

“Yes, this is something that was pioneered by Snapchat, We think they did a great job of uncovering that Stories as a format is the way that people really want to share photos and videos in social apps.” Connor Hayes, product manager at Facebook.

Camera on Facebook app is packed with dozens of effects like masks, frames and interactive filters that you can apply to your photos and videos. Reactive effects let you interact with dynamic objects like falling snow and style effects apply an artistic filter to your video in real time, letting you turn your everyday selfie into a Picasso-style work of art.

Facebook have also partnered with brands to create masks for upcoming movies Alien: Covenant, Despicable Me 3, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Power Rangers, Smurfs: The Lost Village and Wonder Woman. Additionally, they are also including guest art from visual artists like Douglas Coupland and Hattie Stewart.

Other feature that is included in the update is Direct story which allows user to share their story with individual friends. Once the friends have viewed the story, they can repeat it or can write a reply to it. Once the conversation ends on the photo or video, it will not be visible in Direct Story.

Over the coming months, Facebook plans to introduce new ways for the users to create their own frames and effects that can be used on any photo or video created with the camera. Facebook aims to make the camera to be a home to hundreds of dynamic and fun effects that give you new ways to connect with friends, family, and your community.
