Snapchat probably wants to connect with more of its users, that’s why soon they might introduce first developers platform known as “Snapkit.” According to TechCrunch, this new tool will let third-party apps to login with the Snapchat system it also offers an access to features like Augmented reality camera and Bitmoji avatars. Snapchat has remained very protective in terms, of its user’s data privacy and guarded the app propriety but, they are currently reconsidering their policy.
Facebook has been using the similar approach to offer login access without creating a new account on the third-party apps because the company wanted to gain a good number of users. But for Facebook, it did not go well as the company, has been accused of violating data privacy resulted in Cambridge Analytica Scandal. Therefore, Snapchat executives are reasoning on how to put forward this scheme so that other apps certify in order, to use Snapchat credentials. Currently, teenagers are now more concerned and conscious about data privacy but don’t worry Snapchat would not collect much personal information about you, so you don’t need to be concerned about misusing data.
Also, it might prove a new way to make everyone familiar with bitmoji as a majority of Snapchat users use different avatars to put as their Snapchat profile picture.
The most practical thing Snapchat is giving other apps a way to use its most popular Augmented reality camera (Snap filters). Facebook and Instagram also copied and infused face animation feature in their apps, but it did not work out properly for them as a large number of the audience have already become obsessive about using Snap filters. Consequently, Snapchat idea behind Snapkit is to permit visual sharing of picture and videos, not just on Snapchat, but on third-party apps as well.
