Hackers have taken Singapore under attack targeting the largest Singapore healthcare center SingHealth, it affects 1.5 million members stole the personal data along with the prescriptions of 160,000 others, making it worst cyber attack in the history of Country. The Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also become a victim of the data breaching, ministry of health reported several times about being specifically and repeatedly targeted.

The breached data includes Name, gender, race, Address, contact number, and Patient’s ID card number, making their medical history become accessible for unauthorized parties. All the concerned people have visited Singhealth between May 1, 2015, and July 4, 2018, though it appears that the hackers accessed the data by coping the Healthcare operating system with Malware and then it automatically gain the passage to all administration accounts. Failure of the Singapore healthcare security system was first noticed on July 4 and a police report then filed on July 12.

According to a press release from Singapore’s Ministry of Health, “Investigations by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and the Integrated Health Information System confirmed that this was a deliberate, targeted and well-planned cyberattack, It was not the work of casual hackers or criminal gangs.”

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong expanded his views about this incident on this Facebook page:

“I don’t know what the attackers were hoping to find. Perhaps they were hunting for some dark state secret, or at least something to embarrass me. If so, they would have been disappointed. My medication data is not something I would ordinarily tell people about, but there is nothing alarming in it.”

The Government has assured that none of the patient’s medical records tampered and no Diagnosis, reports, or Doctor prescription was taken out. Only personal information was lost and the affected people will be contacted soon within 5 days to carry out the further inquiry. PM Lee also claims that hacking health record of Government officials must be a political stunt by opposition parties, hoping to disclose any embarrassing or confidential health reports, it is expected these kinds of things will happen in future.
