Vivo Nex series including Nex A and Vivo Nex S is the world’s first pop-up selfie camera Smartphone with an entirely Notch-less and Bezel-less screen, the selfie camera is hidden at the top edge of the phone and comes out only when required, as per the Company said.
But some of the Chinese users who are using this new model for quite a while has reported that selfie camera is making an unwanted appearance without being invited. This sounds creepy because the users said the camera usually appear when they are using other apps or at the time of browsing. The video of this unusual behavior was posted on a Chinese social networking site Weibo and first spotted by Abacus News. The video clearly shows the undesirable appearance of the elevated camera while using a messaging App Telegram.
The camera appears as soon as a New Chat is opened and closed when you exit from that app. Some reports have also suggested that Users experienced the similar behavior when they used Tencent’s QQ browser or when they tap on the travel booking App Ctrip. Moreover, Tencent stated on its support forum that QQ browser does prompt camera to pop out to scan QR codes and other features, but it doesn’t record any sort of thing.
Tencent report might prove a point, because there are some apps that require camera access to briefly interact with the camera system, seeing that there is not much Pop-up selfie camera phone is present so it might not happen on others.
Privacy is the only issue in this scenario, as a “Bug” could be one of the reasons to elevate the camera without any reason. As for now, no public statement from Vivo has come, the company received their technical issue and will soon talk about it.
