After the big iPad Pro and Mac event, Apple just announced that the new update iOS 12.1 will release tomorrow as a free software update. It is the first update of iOS 12 and brings a bunch of new features which includes Group FaceTime, dual SIM support, real-time Depth Control for Portrait mode, new emoji, and more. iOS 12.1 is also expected to come with “beauty-gate” which operates on the front facing camera on iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
The Group face time will allow you to chat up to 32 people and supports stickers, video filters, and Animoji/Memoji. Previously, it was not launched in iOS 12.0 but now it is ready to appear in the new update. iOS 12.1 now also supports dual-SIM for iPhone XS and XR, from now on you will have two connections running on the same phone. It works like one line carrying your physical SIM card and the other working through eSIM technology.
Now coming to the cameras, iOS 12.1 will allow iPhone XS/XR owners to adjust the depth of field/bokeh in the live preview of a portrait shot. Lastly, Apple is adding a new slate of emojis in the update There are almost 70 emojis and they include the controversial bagel emoji. Also, the new characters with red hair, gray hair and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, more emotive smiley faces and additional emoji representing animals, sports and food.
This new emoji feature will also come to watchOS and macOS through a software update on these platforms. With the new update iOS 12.1, Apple has highlighted the iPhone and iPad’s performance enhancements. The update is received well among users and iOS 12.1 seems like an improvement to multi-person video chats, the flexibility of dual SIM, and fixed selfies on its latest model.
