Today, Google has announced they are launching a new Aqua color of the Home mini speaker, Just a week before the company’s annual October 9th event. It also indicates a possibility that the device won’t come up with a refreshed design this year. Less than a year, the Google smart speaker has gained popularity it will be available for $49 and start shipping from October 29.
The existing Home mini speaker colors are chalk (white), charcoal (dark gray), and coral (red/pink), these colors were introduced along with the launch of this device roughly a year ago. It is expected that at the event Google will introduce Pixel 3 and 3XL smartphones, a smart speaker with a visual interface and touchscreen reportedly named the Home Hub. It also consists of a range of other devices capable of interacting with Google Assistant.
On the other hand, Amazon’s Echo dot which is considered as the biggest competitor of Home speaker got an update a few weeks ago. Without a doubt, the Home Mini speaker has surpassed original plastic Echo Dot, too, Home mini promises a 70 percent improvement in volume output. According to an analysis by Strategy Analytics, in Q2 2018 Home mini Speaker is the best selling smart speaker in the world with 2.3 million units sold, and Echo dot followed closely by 2.2 million units sold. Together, they both made up 38 percent of global market share.
In August a Canalys report explains, in the second Quarter of 2018 Google led global smart speaker sales, with 5.4 million units shipped, followed by 4.1 million from Amazon’s line of Echo smart speakers. Whereas Xiaomi and Alibaba secure fourth place in global smart speaker sales because of the popularity of the devices which interact with AI assistant usually liked by the majority of people.
