Yesterday, Google has announced updates for Google Assistant which helps you to easily book ride services with your voice. You can operate it on your the Andriod, iPhone, Google Home or any smart speaker with the Assistant you just have to ask it for a ride to the airport or a local place by saying these words “Hey Google, book a ride to….” Or “Hey Google, get me a taxi to… .”
You will then be provided with a list of ride services options including Uber, Lyft, Ola and Grab. You will also be given with the estimated prices and waiting time. Earlier that day, Google also rolled out bigger visuals and more touch controls for Google assistant, both the announcements might be setting up the platform for new products and demo made by the company.
At the launching event, the feature was only available in English but eventually but it will work internationally with 18 different ride-hailing services. It will also operate on iPhone as well as Andriod devices but in one case only if you installed the Google assistant and Google maps on your iPhone in order to gain benefit from the new feature. You can activate it with smart speakers like Google home, it is not available on Google’s smart displays but the company said they will soon add this feature to all devices.
Amazon Alexa voice assistant also supports ride-hailing service, and it immediately books your ride without asking confirmation from the smartphone whereas the reviews on Alexa voice assistant is pretty much mixed.
