Currant is a startup dedicated to manufactured Smart home devices that are capable of reducing energy consumption. The company has announced their first AI-powered product which is called the Currant Smart Outlet. It supports two separately controlled outlets and can be rotated when plugged in to keep cords tidy. The company claims that its outlets have ranked high in terms of safety than any smart outlet present in the market.
Moreover, this smart device works with a companion app which tracks real-time electricity usage and display graphs that where energy is using excessively and how much it will cost you. With the help of the app, you will also be able to remotely monitor, control the outlet and connect it to Amazon Alexa and Google Home devices to enable voice control. Outlet-specific rules can be set according to your schedule or you can use it normally for a week.
Nowadays Energy waste is common at almost everywhere, Incandescent light bulbs consume 20 percent to 80 percent electricity than energy-efficient alternatives like halogen incandescents, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The normal dishwasher requires 1,800 watts of electricity to run, therefore, Hasty Granbery the former director of software engineering at PayPal formed Currant to work on reducing energy consumption technology.
Also, you can use the outlet as a plugging it in and connecting to the app, available for both Andriod and iOS. Once the app is done with connecting it will automatically detect the outlet and immediately display real-time information on the energy used. The smart outlets will be available in two versions Bluetooth and WiFi and because both of the version allow energy monitoring and AI-recommended scheduling, Only the Wi-Fi version works and lets you operate the outlets from anywhere.
The price of Currant Bluetooth AI-powered outlet starts from $49.99, and its WiFi Smart Outlet is $59.99.
