General Motors GM plans to bring two new Electric bikes in the market next year. It sounds quite interesting that a car company to make product other than gas power vehicles and move beyond its traditional business but that’s exactly what GM is doing and they planned to sell it next year 2019.
Moreover, the automakers didn’t give a lot of information to share on the electric bikes, Director of General Motors Urban Mobility Solutions Hannah Parish provides a little sneak peek of what newness would the bike brings. The bikes will be smart, connected and will inspire by the GM’s OnStar, the company’s subscription-
The bike also comes with Safety measurements which includes rechargeable front and rear LED lights, the electric propulsion of the electric bikes were designed by GM engineers who created a proprietary drive system.
“We know that people who live in urban areas, like me in downtown Toronto need different opportunities to use different types of transportation when they going and doing different things. We know that congestion in cities is a problem and the e-bikes feed right into our efforts,” Parish, director of General Motors Urban Mobility Solutions told TechCrunch.
For the time being, the main concentration of GM on selecting the name of the bike and they are consulting public to give possible names for the bike. In this regard, the company launches a brand-naming campaign on Friday as part of its broader e-bike announcement. The person whose name got selected will receive a money prize of $10,000 whereas other nine runners-up will each receive $1,000. The entries will accept until November 26 and the winning submissions will be revealed on January 31, 2019.
