Microsoft is currently planning to release a monitor-only version that could potentially deliver easy at-home upgrade options of its Surface Studio in 2020, said Brad Sams inBeneath A Surface. The company plans to move to a modular design hinted in an interview to The Verge by the Panos Panay who is the Surface Chief.
Sams said that all eyes are now on 2019 for the Standalone Surface Studio monitor plus Microsoft’s “pocketable” Andromeda device has modified into a larger form factor, might be launching in the Surface family as the Surface Phone. Microsoft is also working on a Surface-branded ambient computing device, it could be a hardware which brings Cortana more into an office or in the Home environment.
Earlier this year, Microsoft demonstrated a wild futuristic meeting room with a prototype Hardware designed in such a way to Automate meetings. A new kind of Surface hardware that would complement Microsoft’s workings in audio with its Surface Headphones. Sam also points out toward the increasing tensions between Microsoft and Intel. Just like other PC makers Microsoft company is waiting for the intel to finally ship its 10nm processors.
The Intel chips were scheduled to launch in 2019 that has now been canceled. Microsoft company is looking towards AMD as an alternative. As per Sams AMD-based Surface Laptop might release in late 2019, While according to some reports Microsoft is currently using AMD Picasso chips. It is a warning sign for the Intel chip makers if Microsoft moves towards AMD chips.
Reportedly, Intel convinced Microsoft not to choose ARM for Surface Go, and now the Intel is facing strong competition from AMD for desktops and laptops. It seems like 2019 is going to be an interesting year for both of Microsoft Surface Studio and Intel.
