Today, Tovala launched the second version of its Smart oven which features a complete redesign along with a new version of its meal’s packaging. Just like the previous one, the updated Tovala version can steams, bakes, toasts, and broils food. It can cook whatever you put inside the oven but the company recommends you a $12 proprietary meal service.
With the new redesign, the Oven looks different, but the real big change is the incorporation of three sets of physical controls. The top section is for the baking mode or to see what step the meal is on, the middle tells you the temperature of the oven and also allow you to preset it, the last one tells you the time left in cooking. Also, the Smart oven depends upon the WiFi connection to draw information about the pre-packaged Tovala meals, but you can operate the Oven and other buttons without the connection.
Moreover, the new Smart oven weighs less than the previous model, the new oven is 19 pounds and the first generation oven was 31 pounds. Despite less weight, it can still hold four packaged meals. The company claims that it doesn’t use an AI system or machine learning to identify food or cooking time. In order to cook a meal, you have to scan a QR code on their packaging with the help of built-in Scanner, the meals are designed to cook in only 20 minutes or less.
The price of the new smart oven is $349, to give competition other smart oven have entered the market just like Barava but none of the oven steam food like Tovala. Although, the market is expanding with the arrival of the second-generation oven like Tovala and June.
