Oppo is all set to join a number of phone makers who have decided to go for the next big thing, the foldable display mobiles. Samsung has already shown off its first foldable with an Infinity Flex display (thought to go on sale in March 2019), Huawei, Xiaomi and Lenovo are some other companies interested in this area and are reportedly planning their own foldable smartphones.
Importantly, Google seems happy with the idea of this coming wave of foldable devices, as they have officially announced their support in Android for their changing displays.
No details have been provided on specs or even a release date yet, so there is every possibility of this just being a prototype device and not for sale. But one thing is for sure that Oppo is interested in this area. The company has already shown a number offoldable phone designsover recent years, adding to their count recently.
Whether or not foldable phones will turn out to be a success or they will just be another flash in the train of fast forward moving technology remains to be seen. But for a company like Oppo who are trying to make their name as a major player in this industry, the opportunity to leave a mark or become a trend in the public is too good to be allowed to pass.
