JayBird is now back again with the second generation of its truly wireless Run headphones, the Run XT. It is an upgraded version which offers an improvement over the originals by encasing them in full IPX7 waterproofing and adds some new colors options. The original version is only sweatproof and water resistant.

JayBird is one of the prominent name in terms of wireless workout headphones, but the company missed the mark with its first generation Run headphones. It faced some unrealistic Bluetooth connectivity problems. Now the company named this new pair of earbuds as “all weatherproof” which can withstand in extreme conditions.

JayBird has not explained yet whether they have made any improvements in the system or not. The original Run headphones used a second Bluetooth connection to communicate between the headphones, instead of using the Near Field Magnetic Induction technology. In addition to encasing the earbuds in IPX7 housing, the company has given it a little bit of Makeover which is available in some new colors Black/Flash and Storm Gray/Glacier.

The rest of the Run XT earbuds is more or less unchanged from the original series, which acquired the same design, same Siri and Google Assistant buttons, the same option to just the right earbud. It has buttons to summon Siri and Google Assitant as well as Spotify integration. Too, battery life is the same four hours off a charge, along with two additional full charges in the case for a total of 12 hours.

Moreover, Jaybird is rolling out Podcast feature as a part of its app next month, it will provide a tab inside the Jaybird app to find podcasts curated by Jaybird athletes and staff. The price of the Run XT headphones is $179.99, the same price tag as their non-waterproof predecessor when they go on sale sometime in February. The earbuds are now available in selected retail stores like Jaybird’s online store, Best Buy, and Amazon.
