On Tuesday, China’s state-run news agency Xinhua announced its newest AI news anchor named Xin Xiaomeng. Xin is not a reals person instead she is an ultra-realistic computer generated model powered by advanced AI technology. She is an artificial intelligence created by Xinhua and search engine Sogou making her the world’s first female AI news anchor.

In a short video clip, Xin Xiaomeng introduced herself to Xinhua viewers and announced that she will make her professional debut as a news anchor in March. The digital model’s appearance is inspired by the real-life Xinhua broadcaster named Qu Meng. In her introduction video, the AI news anchor has spoken only Chinese language, it is unclear whether she would be able to speak the English language or any other language as well.

The news of Xinhua’s another AI news anchor comes in just three months after the agency had revealed two male versions, who presented over 3,400 news reports totaling over 10,000 minutes in length since they produced. Now they have evolved a bit since November, at the starting they could only read the news sitting behind a desk and with minimal body language. In a recent video, one of the AI news anchor explained its evolution, shows him standing and telling viewers about the upgrades he received.

“Henceforth, rather than working behind the desk, I’ll be broadcasting the news in front of the desk,” the digital model said. Instead, I’ll be broadcasting from a standing position. I can make more hand gestures and facial expressions. Now I have my own name, Xin Xiaohao. Thanks to this upgrade, I’ll be able to conduct better broadcasts.”

As it is obvious that these AI models perfectly mimics Human beings and also improve with the passage of time. It could be possible that in the future AI entirely replaces Human from the screen or maybe not. But AI is only growing and incorporating in many industries.
