Xiaomi has just unveiled the Mi 9; it is the new flagship of their range. The phone was in talks for several weeks now, it’s finally official. The announcement of it took place in China, although the international presentation will be at the Mobile World Congress.
Xiaomi is not one to hide her smartphones before their announcement and the event around the Mi 9 was just a confirmation. Just a few hours from the Samsung conference for the Galaxy S10, Xiaomi clearly sends a message to their Korean rival.
This Xiaomi Mi 9 is equipped with an AMOLED panel (manufactured by Samsung) of 6.39 inches, Full HD plus, with an integrated fingerprint reader on the screen. At the rear, there is a triple photo module with a 48 megapixel sensor opening at f / 1.75, a telephoto 12 megapixel opening at f / 2.2, and a very wide angle 16 megapixels opening at f / 2.2.
Inside, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, 6 or 8 GB RAM depending on the model, and 128 or 256 storage. It is said that there is also the NFC, a GPS with independent L5 antenna and an infrared port.
The Mi 9 is equipped with a 3300 mAh battery and is compatible with wireless charging at 20W maximum and fast charging at 27W maximum. Lastly, the smartphone runs Android 9.0 Pie (MIUI 10).
It is a very high-end technical sheet in a rather ordinary body. But that’s the manufacturer’s capacity; year after year they manage to offer uncompromising smartphones at unbeatable prices.
Xiaomi has announced a sale price of 446 $ for the base model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and 490 $ for the model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Mi 9 Pro with its transparent back will be sold for more prices 596 $.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 will land in a few weeks in other countries. At the Mobile World Congress, Xiaomi has decided to make the second announcement.
