TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a recent report spoke that Apple, the reliable company of all the things has been working on an augmented reality headset. This pair of glasses could go into mass production and the company can launch it in the first half of the year 2020.
Components of the digital world are into a person’s perception of the real world by the augmented reality which should not be confused by the virtual reality. It is not just done as a simple display of data but through the integration of immersive sensations that are perceived as natural parts of an environment.
The features of this mysterious headset are not announced yet. You can more or less relate it to the Apple watch according to Mr. Kuo. To enjoy this latest technology iPhone is a must. You can use this AR headset connected with your iPhone as it strongly relies on it.
Information will be displayed right in front of your eyes with the help of this AR Apple headset. When it comes to internet connectivity, location services and computing your iPhone may cause heavy lifting. The connection between the iPhone and this AR headset may be made through Bluetooth.
What you will find in your AR headset is not mentioned in the Kuo’s report. The company may provide displays and sensors so that AR headset is aware of your surroundings. AR device otherwise is only compatible when it detects thing around you.
Experiment on the augmented reality is already done by the company with their ARKit framework on iOS. They have developed different apps that integrate digital elements in the real world, as viewed through your phone cameras. Many apps have this AR feature but this technology is still very limited. As back in 2017, Apple CEO Tim Cook talked about the limitations of AR glasses.
“Today I can tell you that the technology itself doesn’t exist to do that in a quality way,” he said. “There have been improvements, but AR is still very limited in what it offers, largely because there’s a huge gap in the field of view inside headsets.”
Mapping is another interesting use of this augmented reality technology. An augmented reality mode for google maps is recently introduced by Google. You can see arrows indicating the direction in front of your face by holding your phone.
