The US electric car manufacturer, Tesla announces that it will only sell cars online. In order to cut in service expenses, the company will shut down most of its stores in the next few months and suspend some retail workers.
Tesla explained that converting the sales from stores to the Internet, along with other ongoing cost-effectiveness, will allow them to reduce the price of all vehicles. It will be an average of about 6% and achieve a $35,000 Model 3 price earlier than predicted by the company.
CEO Elon Musk did not disclose the number of stores that will be close down. He did say that some stores will retain and change into information centers and showrooms. The company did not provide definite figures for retail employees that may be affected.
The company will hold the operation of some retail stores, “There are only a few stores in the busy areas, which are used as showrooms and Tesla information centers.”
While announcing this step, Tesla said it began selling its long-awaited $35,000 Model 3, the Model 3 Standard Range Plus. The car has a cruising range of 240 miles and a top speed of 140 miles per hour. The 60 mph acceleration rate is 5.3 seconds. They said that car owners can get up to 9% of cruising range, more power and upgraded interiors as long as they spend 6% more.
Tesla said in a statement that in order to attain the above financial price while maintaining financial sustainability, Tesla is transforming sales to online sales worldwide.
Musk said, “We have no other way to save the cost of providing this (low-priced version) car and it is financially sustainable. I hope there is another, but unfortunately it will lead to a manual reduction in retail, this is impossible to bypass.”
Customers in North America can spend a minute on their mobile phones to purchase Tesla, which will soon be rolled out to the global market. However, Tesla did not directly responded to when this policy will be introduced.
Tesla mentioned in the above statement that customers, who purchase Tesla cars online, upon not being satisfied, can return them within one week. It can make the company’s trial and return easier, so do the test drive before buying.
Now you can get a full refund within 7 days or 1000 miles. There would be no shame to say that you can buy a Tesla on weekends and run a few hundred miles with friends. And then can return the car free of cost.
