Tesla Inc unveiled its model Y electric vehicle during an event held in Hawthorne, California. The long-awaited “compact” electric SUV built on the Tesla Model. Model Y takes up most of the components of the younger sister, but proposes some uniqueness such as the 7 seats.

The Chief executive Elon Musk said the compact SUV, built on the same platform as the Model 3, will debut for the first time in a long-haul version with a range of 300 miles (482 km) for $ 47,000.

A standard version will be available in 2021, would cost $ 39,000, with a range of 230 miles. Also, vehicles can be organized to take in 7 seats for an additional $ 3,000.

The Model Y confirms itself as a “raised” variant of the Tesla Model 3 medium sedan, with very similar proportions and details. The sheets remain simple and clean, with front panel dominated by raised optical assemblies and the total absence of air intakes.

A sheet metal surface is increased, but also the glazed surfaces, in particular with regard to the panoramic roof, consisting of a single glass panel that includes the windshield.

Inside, the setting is clean, linear dashboard, dominated by the large 15-inch central display from which it is possible to access all vehicle functions. The significantly larger dimensions compared to Model 3 have allowed Tesla designers to obtain space for two additional passengers.

After the event, company’s website incorporated a page to “design and order” the longest and most expensive edition of the rear-wheel drive car. It will be available from next year. To order the car it is a refundable deposit of $ 2,500 is required.

As expected, the company has not yet provided the absolute technical data sheet of Model Y. Only declaring some basic information to portray the market position of it.

Tesla Model Y will arrive on the US market in the fall of 2020 with the most performing and expensive versions, to then complete its range in the spring of 2021 with the Standard Range entry version as mentioned.
