Microsoft is refreshing its Surface Book 2 base model, over the weekend the company added a new mid-range configuration option. The software giant is introducing Intel’s latest 8th Gen quad-core i5 processor for the13-inch Surface Book 2 model while keeping the current dual-core 7th Gen model at a discounted price of $1,299.
The updated model features a base clock speed of 1.7 GHz and an i5-8350U which bumps the processor’s maximum and boost Turbo frequency of up to 3.6 GHz. The refreshed quad-core model would be priced at $1,499, Apart from the processor not many things have changed in Surface Book 2. The new mid-range Book 2 will also include single configuration 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM.
The previous model of Surface Book 2 with 7th-generation dual-core processors features customizable RAM and storage options which can bring the price up to $2,999 when maxed out. We witness some good performance from quad-core Surface Pro 6 models compared to the dual-core chips used in previous models.
Microsoft is also holding a surface event on April 17th in New York City. It is anticipated that the company reveals pricing and availability for its Surface Hub 2 hardware, and associated accessories and office furniture from Steelcase. Probably, Microsoft will talk about the Surface book 2 changes and installation of lastest processors.
Too, the software giant is currently planning to release a monitor-only version that could potentially deliver easy at-home upgrade options of its Surface Studio in 2020, said Brad Sams in Beneath A Surface.
