Samsung has announced a new Galaxy A80 which is the new midrange phone with a camera that only slides up from the back side of the device. Samsung Galaxy A80 automatically rotates and functions as both selfie camera and a rear mounted camera. Too, this phone is the first one to be equipped with Samsung’s “New Infinity” display, which it announced last year.
Samsung Galaxy A80 automated pop-up mechanism consists of a triple camera array featuring 48-megapixel f/2.0 camera, flanked by an ultrawide 8-megapixel f/2.2 camera, and a third ToF (time-of-flight) sensor. To have a sliding camera mechanism means there is no notch or a hole-punch in the phone’s 6.7-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2400) Super AMOLED display.
We have previously witnessed sliding camera mechanism incorporated in the Smartphone mechanism. For instance, Oppo’s 2014 N1 smartphone had a rotating 13-megapixel camera whereas the pop-up cameras have also appeared on a number of notchless devices over the past year, including the Vivo Nex and Oppo Find X. If we look recently, slider phones have made a comeback on devices like the Honor Magic 2 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3.
Apart from the automated triple rotating camera, it features a 3,700mAh battery that supports fast charging at 25W. Furthermore, It has an 8GB of RAM, 128GB of onboard storage, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The model will come in three color options Gold, white and Black. With the announcement of Galaxy A80, Samsung also unveiled the release date for Galaxy A70 which is 26th April.
Talking about the A70 that has a teardrop-notched 6.7-inch display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, and it includes an in-display fingerprint scanner. It also has a triple camera array on its backside, a 32-megapixel sensor along with a 5-megapixel depth sensor and an ultrawide 8-megapixel sensor. A70 will available in four colors which is Coral, white, blue, black. Though, Galaxy A80 will launch on the 26th of May accompanied by A10, A20, A30, and A50. The price of both models A70 and A80 is not announced yet.
