One of the things people always asked WhatsApp was a kind of alert to accept or not to get into a group of the messaging application. It seems that finally developers are ready to address it, since the application has just been updated to specifically avoid being added to groups on WhatsApp without your permission.
WhatsApp group conversations can be very annoying when they drag you without your consent. Finally, this solution is implemented for that, in the form of a new configuration that allows you to choose who can add you to the group chat. It will be a way to avoid this issue completely.
If you do not want to be added to WhatsApp groups, you must update the app to the latest version. Users will also have to adjust WhatsApp settings to not get into groups without consent.
Firstly, open WhatsApp on your phone and go to Settings> Accounts> Privacy.
Click on the new Groups menu and then select the option that suits you, which establishes who can get into WhatsApp groups:
– Nobody (this stops someone from adding you to a group without an invitation)
– My contacts (only your contacts can add you to a group without an invitation)
– Anyone (anyone can add it to a group without an invitation)
Finally it will be an end to all those people who do not stop getting into groups, exposing private data and causing discomfort continuously. It will surely help some people to stay away from the group conversations with extended family, and the toxic friends of the university.
The new privacy feature of WhatsApp is beginning to be implemented gradually in different countries. Some Users can already make use of this wonderful setting but in many countries this update is not yet available, neither for iPhone nor for Android. It will be available worldwide in a few weeks.
In a blog post the company said:
“With these new features, users will have more control over the group messages they receive. These new privacy settings will begin rolling out to some users starting today and will be available worldwide in the coming weeks to those using the latest version of WhatsApp.”
