The last year has been utilized by Google to make everything feel simpler, more intuitive, and easier to use, thus refining its Wear OS smartwatch software. To make wear OS feel smoother and more useful the improvements have gone a long way.
An interesting new Wear OS feature is announced by Google today that makes a number of highly used features more easily available. This new feature is Tiles, which are the glance able widgets. You can swipe between using this feature to get information quickly, like the local weather forecast, headlines, your next calendar event, goals, and your heart rate, as well as tools, like the Wear OS built-in timer. All are available with just a few swipes to the left.
Previously, on your latest version Wear OS watch face in some form tiles are also present, but the only available tile was Google Fit, which opened with a single swipe. Your Fit data is still in the same spot, but now these other new tiles will be available to you as well as you swipe more.
in a blog post, Wear OS product manager Frank Deschenes wrote:
With a swipe left, you’ll be greeted by these Tiles and can check your progress towards your fitness goals or start a workout, know where you need to be next, plan ahead with the latest forecast, check your heart rate, follow the latest breaking headlines and set a timer
Tiles are available in some default order but you can customize the order of these tiles according to you. For this you have to do is touch and hold a given tile and then drag it to the left or right. You can also adjust the layout with the Smartwatch mobile app. After some time, more tiles can be added by Google to this list.
Over the course of the next few months, the new tiles will start rolling out to all Wear OS smartwatches. All tiles will not be available to all the devices if you are not seeing heart rat tile you probably may not see it ever.
