Facebook today have rolled out two new features to its Facebook Movie Ads, Premiere reminder and showtimer lookup to help people find the movies they want to see. Users can click the “Interested” button when they see a movie ad in their Newsfeed and they will get a notification about when a movie is in theaters, much like how the event notification works.
Moviegoers often discover a film months before its release, but they need a reminder when a film they want to see is about to hit theaters. This reminder notification will not only sends people to the movie detail page on Facebook to look up showtimes and but also gave them the option to seamlessly purchase tickets. With facebook movie ads, people can easily stay informed about the movies they want to see while film marketers can reach a group of moviegoers that have indicated strong interest in their film.
Don’t expect to see these ads everywhere as they are currently only available in US and UK. The Social Media giant has already deals with theater chains including AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas. In the U.S while for UK they have made partnership with NBC Universal’s Fandango and Atom Tickets.
It is worth mentioning here that Universal Pictures used Facebook showtime ads to promote its recent holiday film, “The Grinch,” and saw a significant increase in showtime lookups and ticket purchases.
